Having completed renovations at O’Hare International Airport Terminal 5, Westfield reached out to Grace Amandes Design for rebranded terminal graphics and grand opening event collateral. The updated terminal interior is modern and graphic, yet organic. Long horizontal rectangles flow throughout the space, calling to mind Prairie Style Architecture. It has a clean palette of blues and earth tones. The translucent overlay of basic shapes, inspired by a glass mosaic installed in the new space, creates a sense of movement without detracting from the copy–important in a space that is often crowded with travelers.

Building on the inspiration from the terminal itself, technical drawings and vintage advertising provided additional points of reference for the overlay and palette.

The grand opening event was large and well-attended, and required a variety of collateral: stage backgrounds, banners, signage, guest badges, gift packaging, presentation slides, and more.
